In recent years, the health-protecting functional textiles that have been introduced have been favored by consumers at home and abroad, but the high-value functional fibers required for such products have difficulty in unifying the efficacy, durability and processability in production. Professor Zhu Meifang, Dean of the School of Materials, Donghua University, has been focusing on the research and development of functional hybrid materials for more than ten years. The exhibitors brought by the team have systematically solved the technical bottleneck in the process of industrialization of such functional fibers.

Professor Zhu Meifang, the project leader, introduced that hybrid technology can realize the "cutting" and "assembly" of material functions, which is of great significance to promote industrial upgrading and structural optimization of fiber and textile industries. The project team introduced hybridization and functional assembly technology in the synthesis, fiber molding and textile post-processing of polyester. The design of the hybrid metal-ion antibacterial hybrid material with specific morphology, composition and structure was invented. The functional material was studied in polyester. The antibacterial rate against Staphylococcus aureus was close to 100%, and the antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Candida albicans was inhibited. The rate is also far higher than the standard value, both above 95%. The experiment also showed that the antibacterial effect of the antibacterial fiber product (fabric) can reach the industry standard AAA level even after 50 times of washing, and the uniformity of efficacy and durability is successfully achieved.

The results of the project series have made important contributions to improving people's health and improving their quality of life.
