Hello everyone! We’re Ashley (Frances) and Emily (Suzanne), sisters who love sewing for our youngest sister’s kids—EA (almost 6), CL (4 years old), and LG (2 years old). We live in "Sweet Home Alabama," a place where sweet tea and college football are king. In this vibrant sewing community, folks often mix bold prints, ruffles, ric-rac, and appliqués. However, we prefer adding piping to solid fabrics to emphasize a pattern's structure, aiming for timeless elegance. Our inspiration comes from European children’s fashion and vintage styles, especially from the late 1960s. We also enjoy hand-stitching details to make each piece uniquely ours.
Our sister supports our vision for "simple yet unique" designs, giving us the freedom to craft outfits for our nieces. But there’s a catch—our confidence in altering patterns has always been shaky. To improve, we launched a series (mostly for ourselves) showcasing sewists tweaking existing patterns. Two years ago, we attended the SAGA conference to learn from Liesl, the master of pattern alterations. This marked the beginning of our Building Block Dress journey.
