New Discoveries of Archaeological Work in Jiamusi City during Han-Wei Period

In late August 2012, when the cultural relics management station of Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, undertook a cultural relic inspection of the suburban town of Changfa, a site of the Han and Wei period was discovered in the Xishan Village of the mayor. The location of the site here is the construction of a sand mining site for villagers in Changxin Village. As a result of year-round sand extraction and the scouring of summer rain, the site has been severely damaged. In order to truly restore the site's historical appearance and reveal its cultural connotations, the Jiamusi Cultural Relics Management Station decided to conduct rescue excavations.

From August 28th to September 13th, the Jiamusi Cultural Relics Management Station carried out rescue excavation work on the Xishan site. Clear out a semi-hole house. A number of earthenware potteries were unearthed in the site. Pottery types were: pots, cans, single-handle pots, bowls, cups, etc. There were 3 stone tools, and the ring-shaped stone tools and stone axes were used. Most of the pottery that was cleaned out was damaged and needs to be repaired. Stoneware is basically intact. It was initially determined that this site belongs to the cultural and historical relics of Luojuling in the early Han and Wei periods. Rolling Rabbit Ridge Culture is a typical early Iron Age cultural relic in Sanjiang Plain. It was named after the excavation of the Heijuan site in Shuangyashan City. It is 2140±70 years ago.

The rescue excavation of the Xishan site is the first excavation of the largest variety of pottery excavated in the site of Jiamusi City for the first time in history. At present, 11 pottery have been repaired. The restoration of cultural relics is still underway. The results of this excavation work provide physical data for the study of the distribution, living conditions, and production methods of residents in the Han-Wei period in Jiamusi region. This study is devoted to the study of the development history of ancient ethnic groups in Jiamusi, the integration of ethnic groups, migration, etc. All have important archeological research value.
