Guangdong Shunde clothing exports increased denim adult clothing
The Shunde Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau recently reported that from January to August this year, the bureau conducted inspections on a total of 12,448 batches of exported garments, valued at $62,395,508. This represents a year-on-year increase of 19.6% in the number of batches and 41.08% in value. As garment exports continue to rise, international standards for safety and environmental protection have become more rigorous. Experts from the Shunde Inspection and Quarantine Bureau advise export garment companies to enhance their legal and environmental awareness to better navigate foreign technical trade barriers.
Currently, Shunde's garment exports are mainly composed of cotton woven denim adult clothing, which makes up over 60% of all exports. These products are primarily shipped to the European Union, the United States, Hong Kong, South Korea, South Africa, and Australia. Notably, exports to the EU and the US account for more than 70% of the total. Most of the garment manufacturers are medium to small enterprises located in areas such as Junan, Ronggui, Xingtan, and Lunjiao. These companies typically export between millions and tens of millions of dollars worth of goods annually, with staff numbers ranging from dozens to hundreds.
According to officials from the Shunde Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, after over a decade of development, the local garment industry has significantly improved its raw material sourcing, key production processes, and overall product quality. However, with growing export volumes, the demands for safety and environmental compliance have also risen. Experts recommend that garment companies strengthen their understanding of legal requirements and environmental regulations, ensuring strict adherence to technical standards set by importing countries. They emphasize the importance of controlling critical factors like pH levels, especially for children's clothing destined for markets such as the EU, the US, and Japan. These products must avoid the use of azo dyes, meet flammability standards, ensure accurate fiber content, and be free from formaldehyde and harmful chemicals. Attention should also be given to potential hazards like long strings or small parts on children’s garments.
In addition, the industry is encouraged to foster better communication and collaboration, promoting resource and information sharing to collectively address foreign technical trade barriers and maintain competitiveness in the global market.
