Quanzhou Garment Enterprises in Fujian Province and Henan Enterprises reached multiple cooperation intentions
Due to a surge in foreign trade orders and a growing labor shortage, textile and apparel companies along China's southeastern coast are accelerating their relocation to the central region. In the Zhengzhou High-tech Zone, over 10 Garment companies from Quanzhou, Fujian, and more than 90 local Henan-based firms gathered for an order transfer meeting, forging several promising cooperation agreements.
As the global economy gradually recovers, demand for foreign apparel continues to rise. Many Fujian-based export-oriented clothing companies are overwhelmed with orders, making it essential to find reliable partners in the central region. The Provincial Garment Industry Association seized this opportunity, working closely with the Quanzhou Garment Merchants Association to bring together more than 10 top local companies for direct negotiations with Henan’s garment manufacturers. The Quanzhou delegation also toured leading Henan-based enterprises such as Mengshuya, Ya Lida, and Yiyang, gaining a deeper understanding of the local industry.
Shi Zhengzhi, head of the Quanzhou Garment Association, emphasized that the Quanzhou textile and apparel sector has developed a comprehensive industrial chain and a large-scale cluster, with an output value exceeding 100 billion yuan. He noted that the Midwest region offers a wealth of human resources, making it an ideal location for production transfer. Henan, with its abundant workforce, convenient transportation, and vast consumer market, has seen rapid growth in the garment industry—especially in pants manufacturing. This is evident from the booming sales of sewing machines in the province.
Li Gang, vice chairman of the Henan Garment Industry Association, shared that over 30 domestic and international sewing machine brands are sold in Henan, with sales increasing by an average of more than 50% in recent years. Some brands, like Jack, Gems, and Zhongjie, have even seen over 100% growth.
At the matchmaking event, Zhao Jianhe, chairman of Quanzhou Green Group, a well-known apparel company, called the Quanzhou-Henan order transfer meeting a "timely rain" for his business. With a significant increase in production orders this year, he said his company struggled to meet deadlines alone. Henan, being a major textile and clothing province with a solid industrial base, provided a confident and reliable partner for their expansion plans.
Wang Xueping, head of Oriental Clothing Co., Ltd., pointed out that while Quanzhou has a mature apparel industry chain, Henan’s garment sector is still developing. Through these cooperation talks, Henan can learn from Quanzhou’s successful business models, improve brand image, enhance corporate management, and strengthen its overall industrial structure. Both regions see great potential for future collaboration.
This shift not only helps alleviate pressure on coastal manufacturers but also brings new opportunities for the central region to grow its textile and apparel industry. As more companies move in, the economic balance between regions is expected to become more stable and prosperous.
